Our Sustainability Initiatives
OUR MISSION
These days, “green” has a more expansive meaning. Environmental protection. Eco-friendly living. Sustainability. Whatever the particular shade, “green” speaks to a better future for our people and our planet. Here at StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village, we take sustainability and resiliency seriously. In fact, we’re proud of how we have made this community one of New York City’s greenest. Since 2016, Beam Living has invested over $25 million in sustainability improvements.
GREEN ENERGY
PROJECT SOLAR
StuyTown has rooftops. A lot of rooftops. And we had an idea to utilize them more effectively through the installation of 9,671 solar panels over our 22 acres of rooftops, doubling Manhattan’s solar power capacity, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and providing cleaner air for our residents and neighbors.

LEED CERTIFICATION
StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village are the first communities in New York state to be awarded LEED Platinum certification, and we did so with a Platinum rating – the highest possible level within the LEED rating system.
