Whole Foods Market is set to unveil its latest venture in New York City with the opening of a new Daily Shop in the East Village’s StuyTown on Wednesday, May 14th. Located at 409 East 14th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue, this 10,000-square-foot store marks the second installment of Whole Foods’ smaller-format concept designed for urban shoppers seeking convenience without compromising on quality.
The StuyTown Daily Shop aims to cater to the fast-paced lifestyles of city dwellers by offering a thoughtfully curated selection of products. Shoppers can expect:
-
Local Favorites: Over 400 products sourced from more than 100 Northeast-based suppliers, including popular New York brands like Mimi Cheng’s, The White Moustache, Family Farmstead Dairy, and Mill Hollow Maple Syrup.
-
Prepared Foods: A variety of ready-to-eat options such as sandwiches, pre-packed meals, and sushi from Genji Sushi. The store will also feature Whole Foods Market Kitchen items like hot rotisserie chicken, take-and-bake pizzas, and seasonal picnic salads, including Greek-Style Tortellini Salad and Sonoma-inspired Chicken Salad.
-
Bakery Delights: New seasonal treats like Strawberry Cherry Pistachio Crumble Pie and White Chocolate Pistachio Brown Butter Cookies, alongside offerings from local bakeries such as Junior’s and Balthazar.
-
Artisanal Cheeses: An extensive selection featuring imports from France, Italy, Spain, and the UK, as well as U.S. favorites like Cowgirl Creamery and Firefly Farms.
A standout feature of the StuyTown location is the in-store Juice & Java café. This venue will serve a range of beverages including coffee, tea, juices, and smoothies, as well as sandwiches and desserts, providing a convenient spot for a quick bite or drink.
To celebrate the opening, Whole Foods Market will offer complimentary coffee and breakfast bites to early shoppers. Additionally, the first 300 customers in line will receive a limited-edition tote bag.
In support of local entrepreneurship, Whole Foods will present Harlem-based supplier Uncle Waithley’s with a low-interest loan through its Local Producer Loan Program during the opening event. This initiative aims to help small-scale producers expand their operations and reach within Whole Foods Market locations.
Demonstrating its commitment to the local community, Whole Foods Market will contribute in-kind products to support organizations such as The Bowery Mission and New York Common Pantry. Financial donations will also be made to area groups including Nazareth Housing and Hell’s Kitchen Farm Project.
The StuyTown Daily Shop follows the successful launch of the first Daily Shop in Lenox Hill last September and precedes the opening of another location in Hell’s Kitchen on June 4. These smaller-format stores are part of Whole Foods Market’s strategy to provide accessible, high-quality grocery options tailored to the needs of urban neighborhoods. The new shopping and dining option bolsters the StuyTown community’s commitment to providing its residents with convenience and easy access to NYC staples. From shopping to dining to local transit, StuyTown’s truly got it all.
