Museum of Illusions Opens in New York

You won’t believe your eyes when you step into the Museum of Illusions. The museum houses over 70 exhibits that are meant to trick your eyes and your mind.

The museum consists of optical illusions, interactive rooms, holograms and a playroom with games and puzzles, all meant to teach visitors about vision, perception and the human brain.

Guests can experience special exhibits like The Infinity Room, where you can play around with mirrors and infinite space. What you will see will be incredible – balls rolling upwards and water flowing up.

Then, there’s the Ames Room where people appear to grow or shrink when moving from one side to the other, and the Reverse Room that creates the illusion that visitors are floating in the air.

The New York Museum of Illusions is one of seven around the world. The first one opened in Zagreb, Croatia. The others are located in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Muscat (Oman), Vienna (Austria), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and Zadar (Croatia).

The permanent installation in New York is housed in a historic old bank building in the Meatpacking District at 77 Eighth Ave. For StuyTown residents, take the L train from First Avenue to Eighth Avenue.

The museum will be open seven days a week from 10am-11pm Monday - Thursday and 10am-Midnight Friday-Sunday. Admission is $29 for adults and $23 for children.
