Make a Shamrock Shake at Home This St. Patrick's Day

All year long, I eagerly await one thing: Shamrock Shake season. This delicious, minty ice cream treat is only around for a limited time, so I decided to try making a homemade shamrock shake this year. It was a success, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Plus, now I can enjoy this tasty treat all year.

Shamrock Shake

(Makes About 2 Shakes)

Ingredients:

  • 8 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
  • ¾ Cup 1% Milk (or whole milk)
  • 10 Mint Oreo Cookies (filling only)
  • 1 Mint Oreo (full cookie)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 6 Large Mint Leaves
  • A Few Drops Green Food Coloring (optional if you want to really make things green)

Optional Topping Ideas:

  • Whipped Cream
  • Mint Oreos
  • Green Sprinkles
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • White Chocolate Shavings (dye with green food coloring)
  • Melted White (or Green) Chocolate Drizzle to add on top of the whipped cream
  • Maraschino Cherries

Directions:

1.
Combine ice cream, milk, oreo filling, oreo, vanilla, and mint in a blender. Blend until smooth. If the shake isn’t green enough, now is the time to add a few drops of food coloring, pulsing until blended.

2. Pour shake mixture into a pretty glass and top with your choice of toppings. (I picked whipped cream, crushed oreo, and cherries for mine.)

Enjoy!
