Simple Mulled Wine Recipe for Chilly Nights

When it's cold outside, there's something so comforting about a cozy night spent inside. However, a dinner at home doesn't have to consist of the same old meal and wearing the same old sweats.

Instead, make a date with your partner, best friend, or yourself and spice things up with a yummy mulled wine. It pairs perfectly with a fancy cheese plate or a delicious bite from your favorite local restaurant.

Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle of Dry Red Wine
  • 1/2 Apple (sliced)
  • 1/2 Orange (sliced)
  • 1/4-cup Cointreau (or similar liqueur)
  • 2/3-cup Apple Cider
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 8 Cloves
  • Optional: 1 Star of Anise

Directions

  1. Pour everything into a medium-sized pot.
  2. Cook on medium until the mixture starts to simmer. Do not let it get to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let simmer for about 15 minutes. (Note, you can keep the mulled wine on low for as long as three hours.)
  4. Using a strainer, pour into mugs or glasses and garnish with more cinnamon sticks, apple, and orange slices.

Enjoy!
