When it's cold outside, there's something so comforting about a cozy night spent inside. However, a dinner at home doesn't have to consist of the same old meal and wearing the same old sweats.
Instead, make a date with your partner, best friend, or yourself and spice things up with a yummy mulled wine. It pairs perfectly with a fancy cheese plate or a delicious bite from your favorite local restaurant.
Mulled Wine
Ingredients
- 1 Bottle of Dry Red Wine
- 1/2 Apple (sliced)
- 1/2 Orange (sliced)
- 1/4-cup Cointreau (or similar liqueur)
- 2/3-cup Apple Cider
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 8 Cloves
- Optional: 1 Star of Anise
Directions
- Pour everything into a medium-sized pot.
- Cook on medium until the mixture starts to simmer. Do not let it get to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let simmer for about 15 minutes. (Note, you can keep the mulled wine on low for as long as three hours.)
- Using a strainer, pour into mugs or glasses and garnish with more cinnamon sticks, apple, and orange slices.
Enjoy!
