You truly can’t beat the convenience of the East Village. 

Commute Time 

As they say, time is of the essence, and with life in StuyTown you don’t have to worry about time wasted on your commute to class. Our location in the heart of the East Village puts you at the nexus of NYC’s transit system, with the L, 4, 5, 6, N, R and Q trains lines steps away. For medical and dental students, StuyTown is more than ideal with close proximity to several medical and dental schools. For those who prefer alternate modes of transport, we’ve got multiple cross-town bus options and our very own CitiBike station on site. NYU’s shuttle bus makes seven (that’s right!) stops within StuyTown/Peter Cooper Village on its C route, making the trip to Washington Square quick regardless of where you live in our community. Don’t forget about the NYC Ferry, which stops at Stuyvesant Cove nearby.  With all this spare time, there’s room for more sleep, exploring Manhattan, relaxing at home and, of course, studying.  

Social Life 

It can be hard to make friends when starting at a new school or moving to new city, especially with the pressure to find your “people.” With a population of 1.63 million, Manhattan has countless opportunities to meet new friends, network, or date, but it can sometimes be daunting. It can be hard to find a balance between prioritizing schoolwork and prioritizing yourself when in college, but at StuyTown we make it easier with our amenities. If you need a bite while studying but didn’t have time to go grocery shopping, we’ve got you covered with our Five Stuy Cafe located on the Oval. Need a quiet place to study? Grab your laptop and head over to our Oval Study, where you can work in peace. For those looking to sneak a workout in or release some school-related stress, we have 3 fitness centers on property, making it simpler to incorporate fitness into your lifestyle. Explore our community greenmarket, enjoy a scoop of ice cream from Peter Coop's Scoops in the summer, and in the winter, take a spin on some skates at our StuyTown ice rink. Whenever you need a quiet moment, visit our iconic “Oval” with its large open lawn and water fountain. Our pet-friendly community is also secured by more than 60 Public Safety officers, security cameras, emergency buttons, and a public video intercom system, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
